The popular ancient crop has been a favourite in the subcontinent. Recipes with wheat have been mentioned in Manosallasa and Bhojan Kutuhala, suggesting that it was quite in use in the twelfth century. This one has been sourced from Almora where it is grown as a local variety by the farmers of the region.
