This antioxidant rich rice variety from Tamil Nadu is traditionally favoured for its great health benefits. Apart from the beautiful red hue, this variety also is nutrient dense and lower in glycemic index than other rice varieties.
about the rice
Kullakar is a traditional red folk rice variety that is cultivated from April-August to December-March and is a regional favourite for Idlis and Dosas. The immense health benefits aside, this variety serves traditional purposes as well. Historically, the paddy stalks, after harvest season, are used for roof thatching, because of their sturdiness.
