পথে হেঁটে চলি, মনে মনে বলি, পাছে হয় ভুল;

Jogindranath Sarkar immortalised Daadkhani in this children’s poem about a boy who goes grocery shopping with a mental list of ingredients that features Daadkhani, which his mother has specifically asked him to bring without fail. The boy distracted with the various sights and sounds on the way mixes up the list in an amusingly funny conclusion. That fabled Daadkhani, an almost forgotten indigenous rice variety, has been sourced from the enchanting Sundarbans region. With its origins rooted in the historical Barddhaman district, Daadkhani is a sweet-water paddy that embodies the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the land.
